Maintenance Steps: The author talks about Steps 10, 11, & 12, being referred to as "maintenance steps." However, the author prefered to think of them as "growth steps." He/she shared about retiring and having more time for "stinking thinking," but decided to turn this around and use the time more productively, especially to practice Alanon in all aspects of life.
Today's Reminder: With the help of the Steps, I need never be stuck again.
Chinese Proverb: Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still.

I readily identify with this page because I have recently retired. And one of my goals is to be more involved with Alanon. I can do this in many ways, including doing service and attending more meetings. I only see positive outcomes by giving myself more interaction with Alanon. So why not? Have a wonderful day, Lyne

Great reminder Lyne For me Step 10 , 11 and 12 were inspiring steps in which I reviewed my actions each day, identified negative tools i was still using and worked at making immediate amends. I then could practice praying for HP's will with the knowledge that i will be given the power to carry it out and then finally I get to call on my" spiritual awakening" and continue to practice these principles each day. For me providing service in alanon is a great way to increase my recovery.
Thanks for your service, and have a great day .

Thank you Lyne I like how you've posed this - what a comfort to be reminded that change is constant and I don't have to feel stuck in unmanageability.

Lyne, thank you for sharing this. I can't help but wonder, are we twins? I also recently retired and have decided to spend more time in Al-Anon service, as well as other causes that are important to me.
I have worried that I might get over-committed and not be able or willing to do everything I've said I would do, that it would become a source of stress. But I know that Al-Anon folks understand it is all one day at a time, and now I have the tools to re-assess and make a change in a positive manner if that becomes necessary. I am never trapped; I always have a choice.
