The reading for today discusses how easily one can become overwhelmed, especially in an alcoholic household. It can be difficult to get organized and know what to do first.
But if you can break things down into manageable pieces, that is the idea behind "One Day At A Time." You can even take one task at a time, or one moment at a time. In doing so, more can actually be accomplished.
Today's Reminder: When I catch myself feeling overwhelmed, or not being able to get anything done because there is so much to do that I don't know where to start, I'll stop for a moment and remind myself to take it one step, one task, one day at a time.
This Is Al-Anon: Remebering that we can only live one day at a time removes the burdens of the past, keeps our attention on the present, and keeps us from fearing the future.
-------------------------------
At times I have a number of stressful things going on all at the same time. If I focus on all of the uncertainty, fear, what ifs, etc., my mind becomes like a hurricane of destruction, going around and around and around. And what it is the outcome for me? I'm a mess! So I do remind myself to slow things down, take a breathe, and get my head over my feet. What is one action I can take, in this present moment, that may bring some benefit for me. That's all I can do, one moment at a time. Have a great day, Lyne

Thank you Lyne for the daily (early - yay!!!), your service and your ESH. I have my little guys spending the night and often they are awake earlier than I am used to 'doing'! I was a Type A, list-making, plan-ahead kind of gal when I got to Al-Anon. Of course, in my own insanity I felt my way was the better way - so I did struggle a bit to stay in One Day at a Time. It was truly foreign to me yet others who had success were a bit more peaceful and happy, so it did seem to be something suggested I should try...
Things changed for me when I did! I would call my sponsor and be in a state of worry or panic, and she would gently remind me that I was not on today! It is such a simple concept that does have quite a return and when my mind floats towards the past or the future, I am reminded today is where my joy is and also my serenity. A racing mind for me is a fast trip to the rat-race of nowhere - just makes me irritable, restless and discontent.
Have a lovely Monday MIP - I got babies in the AM and taco night with my fellowship friends in the PM! (((Hugs))) to all!

Great page, thank you for your service, Lyne. My peace is so much easier to locate and hold onto when I stay in today. When I feel fear start to close me down, inevitably I have launched an expedition into future worries or past regrets, need to return to base camp. Grateful for the program tools and reminders

Thank you for bringing this topic, Lyne!
I recognized last night that I have this undercurrent of stress about the unknown future and what might happen causing a lot of anxiety for me. This reading helps me to bring my mind back on what is happening today and stay focused on the moment, as much as I can. Worrying now about what may or may not happen in the future is not helping me to enjoy the day, and it won't prevent the future from happening, either.
I'm grateful to the program and the tools here that provide the opportunity to practice one day at a time.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Good morning Lyne, thank you for your service and for reminding us of the importance of not projecting and living in the moment.
Prior to program I never was able to stay in the moment and in the day, never had a true present moment,
hanks to Al-Anon and all the powerful tools such as the slogans and the serenity I now am able to live in the day and appreciate all the goodness to be found.
Thanks so much for your service and have a beautiful day
