...keeping it simple. Today's reading focuses on the simplicity and effectiveness of AlAnon, as evident by the slogans:
* Keep it Simple * Let Go, Let God * One Day at a Time * Easy Does It * Live and Let Live * First Things First
Today's Reminder: Relax...often, doing nothing is doing more.
"Slow motion gets you there faster." - perhaps Hoagy Carmichael

Before I started working on my recovery in AlAnon, I tried to keep things simple, but my version was: Simply do what I recommend, and everything would be fine.
I was guilty of trying to do too much, but always about others rather than myself. I was very hard on myself, but still had the energy to be harder on others, especially when it came to telling others what they should and should not be doing.
I lost the fight I picked with alcohol. I decided to get a new coach and trainer, AlAnon. When I keep it simple, even if I just use one of the slogans, I have more peace and serenity in one day than I did before in a month.
Grateful for the wisdom of the program

Thanks Paul for your service and the daily! Love your share and this reading too. Boy howdy - as you all know/realize, I tend to keep myself busy - my mind prefers 'that' - things to do, places to go and fun to be had!
As I sit here in AZ, with a great view and lovely continuous sunshine, I am truly reminded of "keep it simple". My parents are doing well --- yet they truly are abiding by OPT. Old People Time!!! My mother has deemed today laundry day. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo - the clothes are in the washer. We can't go to the store until they are done drying and folded! My multi-tasking way of home chores is vastly different, yet I must adapt as for her, this is her plan.
I thought I was a structured, disciplined, productive person for most of my life. What recovery taught me is I am all this yet my many, many tasks included things that were not mine nor should even involve me. Today, keeping the focus on me has helped me simplify greatly and I do feel a bit more centered. Self-care and scheduled 'fun' are very important to me!! That's a gift of recovery for sure as I felt it was immature to put me first and to have too much fun!
Make it a great, great day!! Back in the saddle Wednesday evening - missing my bed, my pillows and my puppy! (((Hugs)))
