I very rarely start a thread here, but here goes...
As we woke this morning there was a sheet of snow on the ground. In this part of the world winter is not too far away. Before long, as the sun rose I could hear excited cries of children. No Christmas presents- just a christmassy touch to the morning. Later in the morning I went over to the park where kids were sliding down banks and some families were building snowmen...
thi is a celebration for me, because I could enter into the sense of fun.
The top of the reading says: "The serenity I am offered in Alanon is not an escape from life. rather, it is the power to find peacefulness within life."
As I sit here, write and reflect, I am aware of stuff around the house that jumps out at me. As a kid the boogy-woogies seemed to jump out at me. My SO has an addiction which ended its terrors over four years ago. I am grateful now that my parent had been the drinker and I had years of Alanon behind me. Though my SO is a mental health professional I was the one who intervened at her hour of need.
I was able to back off and let her do the work- but she always knew I was right behind her. I knew too, that the family would heal around us- and that we had the possibility, or opportunity, of imparting some healthy lines of communication to kids and grandkids...
...around the room are photos of my SO at different ages and stages. A sign of impending health.
The line in today's reading that grabbed me most. It was about how my higher power shows itself through other people in Alanon. Over time I felt, slowly that other people might sense the same thing with me, sometimes. I also sense this with people outside the rooms, sometimes- something that was going to be pretty inevitable.
A bleak day has a silver lining... ...so grateful I am able to see this snow... ...er... to see this now....

Good morning David and thank you for your service and your share! I love how you are reflecting on the 'here' and 'now' and the beauty around you! I am visiting my parents and have the exact contrary conditions - they live in the desert! It's very lovely this morning, rising to almost 100 degrees today later!
I have a program friend who came to my home area from HI about 2 years ago. She came with the purpose of getting to know a daughter she had given up for adoption more than 50 years ago. She's a lovely gentle woman who fit in well with our group and has become a source of serenity and strength for me.
She is returning to her home next month and is downsizing before her move. She gifted me her Hope for Today and each time I pick it up, I think of her with love, calm and light. This program has allowed me the pleasure of seeing good or better in all things around me when I am nurturing my spiritual condition. I am able to nurture my spiritual condition by working this program as best I can and trusted that just for today, all is good and will be well.
I wish you a lovely day! I wish all a lovely day. Enjoying my parents and my trip but am missing my fur-baby as well as my own bed! (((Hugs))) to all!

Great line from the page, so very true. I have not found the program to be easy, and have poured a tremendous amount of time and energy into it, so it truly has not been the easy way out. In the process I also discovered that I needed to shape a large portion of my life view, no small task at this point in my life.
The rewards have been more than worth it, however, not even a doubt in my mind. I am incredibly blessed to have found the program and fellowship and to have been willing to give it a shot, as the blessings and peace are astounding...so grateful
Glad you are enjoying the warmth today, IAH, it's closer to David's weather here, a chilly 60, brrr! Bring some of that warmth back with you

Taking a reading, mainly a one-off for me. Moving from victim to gratitude to celebration... it has taken some time; it surely has...
...but unless we get into the rooms, how else would we know- the changes...? Thanks y'all... ...

Stay warm David! I'll work to stay cool! I am a bit stressed as my dad is taking me to play golf today. It will be near 100 degrees and he's been golfing for almost 70 years. I've just started within the last few years. I'm in a bit of shock that at the ripe young age of 54, I am fearful that I'll be letting him down when he sees my 'game' or lack there of...
