This is something that has become an interesting boundary for me. Interesting because as a concept its been foreign, having been mostly surrounded by alcoholism. Over the last two years, it's become an asset and more recently a boundary. When people are giving of their time, I feel good about being on time. Now, I am also saying no when requests are made that don't fit in with my time. Alcoholism breeds such unreliability and it feels very good to no longer be related to that either in practice or through enabling. I am also careful to stop and think about making even small commitments. I am having to relearn how to be a friend.
Recently, I reconnected with a friend I'd stopped communicating with. No reason at all, I just dropped off social media, wasn't interested in phone calls or visits etc. We live in separate states. I appreciate now that this was not very nice to the other person, in all honesty, it never occurred to me that it might be hurtful. I think this could even be a form of selfishness, lol! Imagine not knowing that! At the same time, I'm now considering what kind of friend I am capable of being and willing to be. it is nice to be mindful. Keep on keeping on everybody!

Reinventing yourself! Awareness isnt it a delight. My favorite thing.
Wish I could have a new awareness every day.... but I must be patient.

Great share A41 I too discovered many of this issues within myself when I took the time to be honest. I am so pleased that program has allowed me to develop principles to live by and the ability to do so. Thanks for sharing this journey.

Thanks for the share, I have not made a lot of new friends since I broke up with my ex-A. I will venture out there one of these days.
