had a meeting here on doubt last night .. years i heard this quote that doubt is an unavoidable companion of faith .. but never heard it .. years i beat myself up 'any time i doubted anything .. it's like i felt i was supposed to be a solid foundation of trust faith etc .. but the solid foundation is built on higher power (hp pending views) in program ..
the doubt i had for years with hp .. really stems and relates to the doubts i grew toward the alcoholics .. i loved those i couldn't trust .. times doubt others but there are times some of the times when i know i doubt for good reason .. still it's a case of the shoulds .. times i feel lingering guilt shame inside even for sharing this because I'm not a newcomer oye but i am definitely a lifer .. anyone relate to this ?? the loyalty to the alcs oye .. but i think i am also really realizing very slowly .. it's 'ok to be 'very human with higher power because years i didn't 'feel i was supposed to be .. spiritual confusion too .. 3 part disease .. mind body spirit .. sharing this also with respect for every hp perception ..
anyway just feeling a slight breeze between me and my doubts now as i recognize a little more they are 'human too .. and an 'unavoidable companion along the way ..

just saying a long time i thought it was my hp i was doubting .. looking on a human level today and taking my head out of the clouds .. recognizing i doubt the people in my life i loved .. even doubt people i don't know without taking the time to find out if they are trust worthy ... just admitting it because i see it . wasn't aware .. so wow really see how that stretched or got projected .. trust issues etc .. .. really grew a lot of unhealthy doubts as there's balance in everything (one) . i can trust alanon people . no 'reason to really doubt etc ..

Hi Me two2 thank you for such an honest and thoughtful share. I too questioned my ability to "trust" HP and act on faith. Thanks to program and being able to accept my humanness, today I can trust HP and myself and know that faith takes courage and HP has always given that to me when i needed it

Hugs, .. I am not so much a doubter as I am a questioner I question everything .. which I think is perfectly reasonable sense I'm trying to make a decision based upon as much information as possible .. I do question my HP and I think that is healthy for everyone to do so .. because my HP gave me free will which I exercise to my own demise at times. LOL .. that's ok because it's learning the stove is still hot .. I can trust my intuition and my HP did not bring this far to just drop me on my butt. I really have to remember that and focus on that fact.

Great topic and awesome shares. I think I'm more along the lines of Serenity - I'm not so sure I have extreme doubts but I do question everything AND over-think even simple events. It's who I am - very analytical and fact-based, so my doubt - if present - comes from that which I can't prove/see. Yet, possibly because of my FOO and my upbringing, I have not really doubted the power of faith and the concept of God. I did think he left me behind because of my choices in life, yet I no longer do. He did not go any where - I did.
I had a lovely aunt (she's passed now) and she lived a very difficult life yet always seemed reasonably calm and pleasant. Anytime any of us brought issues to her, she would simply say, If you are worrying, you are not praying. It took me years to see that this was about the simplest truth I ever heard in my life. If my mind is full of concern about events that might happen, are happening or did happen, there is no room for a conversation with God, let alone allowing his to take my concerns and provide me peace.
So - now when my mind wonders to worry/concern/negative outcomes, she pops in and then I try to change up what I'm doing to an easier way - a prayer for God's will. It gives me more freedom to let go. (((Hugs)))

lol serenity .. i relate to that too .. thanks to you both for these replies .. just helps to know we're never alone .. big sigh .. .love the analogy of the stove as well as reminder hp gives the courage when we need it ..

thanks I am .. sitting here reflecting on the easier way .. anger resentments doubts obsessions really do make things harder .. gonna let this simmer .. hugs received and passing around . I love that last line about more freedom too .. appreciate the responses .
