A great pamphlet costs about 50p. Maybe even available on line free. All about the roles we play out when we live with alcoholism. Our denial of our own part means we go round and round getting nowhere all the while our self esteem becomes less and less and our controlling and obsession with the drinker gets worse and worse. Have a read what you got to lose? except maybe some of your denial.

Hi LC, I do love this pamphlet. It is a small, powerful piece of literature that clearly outlined my destructive interactions not only with the alcoholic but with others as well.
Once I was able to " accept " this vision of how I was acting, it became very easy to pick up alanon tools and change. I found the bookmark "Just for Today" helped me in that respect.
Thanks for this posting

It was the first bit of literature that I came across and it really helped me a lot.
Learning what I needed to do to step off that merry go round came from listening to the experience of others, what worked, what repeated the cycle and what I needed to do to restore my own health.
Good reminder old friend

Thanks elcee for posting this,
As I worked my 12step program,is what brought me out of so much of my deniel that no matter how much I tried to fix or control my qualifiers nothing I did ever worked.
12 steps helped tremendously with this,so that I was able to walk away forgiving my qualifiers and forgiving myself.
Hugs....Its cold here but sunny, yay for the sunshine ....wishing every one a great and blessed day,,full of love.....lu

Love all the 'easy to digest' literature that was provided early on in recovery. My wild brain struggled with the book literature in the beginning as I was so darn analytical. The Just for Today, MerrygoRound... and a few others were very helpful to read each day early on - carried me until my brain calmed down a bit.
Great post and great reminders!!

This pamphlet also was very instrumental in my early recovery and I recommend it a lot. Just came across an Al-Anon literature catalogue sheet an hour or so ago and that was only one of many pieces of literature available. (((hugs)))

I started reading this last night. Wow. An eye opener when I realized the role or roles I have been playing.

I am new to Al Anon and found this very helpful. It's like it's written about me and my husband! I don't really know how I find the answers to how I step off that merry go round though - I feel like I can't live with it anymore, especially as we have two young children and I want to protect them. Does anybody have any suggestions for where to start?

Hey glad your here. Your not alone. I got off by going to alanon meetings and working the program. Go to the alanon website and look for a meeting in your community. There are also online meetings here. There is hope.
