Last night was no joke. Yesterday i injuredy back picking something up: i think i did the damage months ago and my body went "nuh im done" yesterday. Ambulance, morphine, night nurse from hell and no diagnosis. The paramedic thought sciatica, the junior physio urged me to get a ct scan To check for disc problems.
So glad to be home. It was a really s**t experience. Still in a heap of pain but have crutches and a husband who is doing his best to man the fort lol. In a way i think its good for him to see whats involved with being a full time parent. But im mostly just grateful he knows im in pain and not a easy crier. It feels like "support".
But boy does this hurt! Keep me in your prayers family!

(((Edna))) - so glad that you are back home and so sorry that you're down in the back! I'm sending you positive thoughts and prayers for healing....Glad that your hubby is supporting you - I do agree that until someone walks a mile in another's shoes, it's difficult to understand how much one does!

Oh can i relate. Back pain turned me hysterical 1 month ago and i still have it. MRI revealed compressed disc and other damage. on pills,excercise etc but pain still remained. last week had spinal injection..no relief yet. hope u feel better so OUCH!

Thanks for the random moans and the understanding and the love all.Boy does this suck! Pain is never nice I guess. Literally can't do anything. Everything is sloooooow. The toilet is a monument to fear. So benign looking yet one wrong approach and its just spasms and waves of pain. I am getting the slow down and take care message real well. Wish I'd listened earlier oh boy! Thank you all for being here.my phone is lost so I couldn't come hang out here. I miss here.

I feel like being seen on my crutches and being in pain might be seen as attention seeking. Its stupid. But I know I can share that here. And let it go. Revealing a skill of mine...might work for you might not...it works for me and all I paid for it was faith and practice.
If you know how to focus...focus your attention on the area that is painful and be as accurate as you can be. Focus on the disc or the spine ...where it is painful. When you have located it pay attention to the temperature of the pain...how hot is it? (Red for sharp and intense...orange for intense and not so sharp etc etc). How large is it, how much space does it take up? and then How heavy is it and dense? The object is to create a picture of it as if it was a real object and after you have done these steps start to change the character of the pain...releasing the heat and seeing it change color to blue...getting cooler. Focus on fhe shape getting smoother and not sharp and ragged and the size of it getting smaller and more "fluffy" ....less dense. As you see it get smaller imagine it getting lighter and airy. See it getting smaller and smaller ----take your time---- and practice until it diminishes and goes away. This process is Psyco,Cybernetics...or the mind over the matter and it works because all of us are endowed with this power...I just did it while typing this response. I get angina spasms they don't last long.
You can look up the works of Maxwell Maltz and get his writings the process works on all forms of human conditions and doctors and nurses have been surprised to watch me work it with me...the word miraculous has been used even.
I also have a sciatica condition from a head-on accident years ago and head pain from the recent subdural hematomas which I was told most people do not survive from. My HP does HP's part and I do mine with the help of Maxwell. Give it a look see and you can give me a poke back for more discussion if you like. ((((hugs))))

Yuk, I hate back pain, had to go to the chiropractor lately myself, but nothing nearly so severe. I know how you feel, I hate being debilitated. Being debilitated is for my spouse so that I can take care of her, whether she is drunk (not so much anymore) or just has more problems physically so I get to be the caretaker. So I have to take it easy on myself - and consequently on others - when I get debilitated. I am a grump when it happens!
Given the choice, I'd rather be caretaker than pain-feeler lol.

Edna - there is no shame in back pain. I'm grateful mine has been minimal, but I have 2 brothers and my father who've had back issues on/off for years. My dad actually had surgery when I was young and it helped. My brothers fear surgery and opt to just deal with it. I also have a few others who've battled back issues - from all that I hear and have witnessed, it's no laughing matter. No need to concern yourself with what others think - just do what you need to do to take care of you...(((Hugs))) - sending prayers for healing!!

It is so valuable having our community as it is. I really appreciate everyones vibe. Jerry, I'm such a believer in alternative healing systems for want of a better term. I looked at the pain and it was angry and unsupported. My back has been doing the bulk of every thing since baby number 2 and my core muscles are almost non existent. This has been the metaphor of my lived life. So I started working out those muscles and feel much better. Still walking weird but hey! Rome....days...etc.
Kenny, I too am a grump but don't have the redeeming feature of being a good carer. My husband can not accept care but I have discovered he has a wonderful nurse energy to him. Is it a man thing to give and not be comfortable taking? That's just a musing. I've a lot of time on my hands just now lol. Which is also a silver lining. Been needing a break. In future I think I'll save for a couple of live in nannies instead!
