Quick email here folks! I could use some positive encouragement:
I am studying for my series 7 exams, which basically license me to trade securities, sell annuities and finance products. The amount of information that I am having to take in is overwhelming and I'm stumbling over concepts that I knew would be hard but are proving to send me for a mental loop of insanity lately. I snapped at my bf last night. I griped about how many practice exams I have to take and I'm totally overwhelmed by all of it.
And, the company wants me to figure out which branch I want to work out of, but I haven't even passed the first test, lol!
I'm frustrated with my scores on my progress exams as my average is 70%. The company wants us to maintain above a 65% so I'm still in their realm of 'doing ok' but I know this test, I know this industry, and I know how hard it is. Anyway, I'm just frustrated and could use some encouragement. I take my exam on the 21st of December and would love to enjoy my Christmas holiday by being able to say, "Yes, you passed!"
On a different note, my mom was out here and got to finally meet my bf and his children. She said it looks like we have a mutually beneficial relationship and that it's obvious to her that my bf puts 100% of himself into everything he does, including his relationships. She noted his introverted ways and told me that it's no wonder I am having difficulty with communicating with him sometimes because he is MUCH quieter and less outspoken and emotional than my XAH. Well, actually, my XAH was all about emotion, my bf doesn't listen to emotion until he's reasoned it out intellectually and thought about how much sense those emotions make to him.
My mom also fell in love with his children. She totally gets why I am sold out on this man and his kids. They are engaging, gregarious, fun, and thoughtful and she kept telling me that she wanted to take them home with her. She heard the 10 year old tell me that she loved me, and my mom just found that so sweet. My bf is a package deal and I'm so glad that his children are so welcoming as it's made this transition so easy.
Well, I'm back to taking another progress exam on the last 3 chapters of the book. Then, I'm off to throw myself into studying and getting ready for my first 3 hour practice test this afternoon!

((Andromeda)) You got this!!! Keep up the dedicated studying and keep on showing up. Remember there is no gain without pain and that courage is fear that has said it's prayers. Glad mom supported your choices Positive thoughts and prayers going out to you

Hey there! Good luck on your tests. I am sure you will do great! So glad to hear the positive update and that you had a nice visit with BF and your mom. Hang in there and take it one day at a time :)

I feel pressure on your behalf (AlAnon anyone?), because it sounds so much is required of you right away. Is there any way to use the one at a time approach?
I doubt anyone's more able than you - so know that you can.

Thanks, Jill. Yes, there is a one time approach. One practice test at a time. I didn't do well today on my 130 question pre-test, I only got 50% so now I'm going to be reviewing the ones I got wrong and going over the chapters where I obviously need review. Tomorrow I have to take 2 more pre-tests and 2 more again on Saturday. That will basically be my pattern for the next 2 weeks. Just trying to absorb as much information as I possibly can in the next 13 days, you know, but sometimes my brain just can't take in anything more, lol.

Hey (((girl))) - you got this!!! Your plan sounds solid and what we learn in program/recovery is to do our best and leave the results up to our HP....I see a ton of leg work going in, so keep doing what you're doing. I took the LOMA tests (Life Office Management Assoc.) many, many moons ago and it was grueling, very tough data/information to absorb, understand and retain. Like so many of us, my perfectionism was affecting my fear and someone suggested to me that truly they look at these as pass/fail for the majority of the population. In other words, scoring higher than others doesn't get you more pay, a better job, etc. - you just have to pass the test for the certification.
That gave me a bit more breathing room in the process! But - you've got this!!! Prayers to you for the continuous diligent effort....and huge kudos for doing the action for a new career/expanded career!

HAHA! Right, I know....I just need a 72% to pass!
I've been doing a little bit better on the big 3 hour practice tests I'm completing now. I've improved my scores from a paltry 47%, to 59%, to 60%, and now today I scored a 65%.
I definitely feel more confident about things as there are some questions and concepts that I'm answering without much introspection or thought on my end and when I do have to do certain calculations (like margin or treasury interest or bond dividend payout ratios, I'm feeling better and understanding more). I'm not feeling as overwhelmed anyway and we are taking a total of 12 practice tests along with 2 mock simulation exams.
One day at a time!

Hey (((andromeda))) - I missed your progress report - yay for you and great job! You do got this! I am certain those tests are hard as he!!....most of the certification type are - you are doing the preparation and giving it your all - it's going to be fine.
I kid you not when I was going through the ones I took, I was so hung up on traditional grading/scores that I was extremely disappointed in my scores. I truly relaxed a bit when someone told me what I shared. I'd truly never thought of it that way! I actually did this before I went to college so had never even heard of Pass/Fail in proper context.
I'm sending you positive mojo, thoughts and of course support and prayers!!
