My BF is out of rehab a month, but he's been drinking although not to excess..until tonight. He was hammerged, slurring, stumbling, was at bar for 7 hours..I'm worried because I heard it is far more dangerous to drink like that after detox..is that true? I keep checking in him, he passed out after he came home, but not before he tried to pick a fight, to which I laughed and said sleep that off..

Im not too sure about the risks but I imagine it would be dangerous as the body may not be as tolerant as it once was. Im more interested in you and how you feel about that and what your doing about detaching from this because its awful living with an active alcoholic, almost impossible to do alone.

I agree with El-cee. How are you doing? I hope you have family/friend support and have been able to get to a meeting. I am so sorry that he is drinking again and trying to pick fights. Take good care of you and wishing you all the best.

Thank you for asking about me, but I am at a place where it is not really affecting me as it once did. I feel sorry for him, I am concerned for his well being, but it is t destroying me as it once did. I am leaving him for a while, maybe forever. It's been a long road but I have come to understand all of this so much more then I once did. His struggle is his, and the more I immerse myself in it, the more I lose myself. I love him with everything I am, but I need to love me more.

I can tell you my son thought he could drink like he used to and ended up 7 days in the hospital.
I decided to completely let go with love and get on with my life whether he drinks or he doesn't. I found out over the years to continue to think about him and not myself was doing me no good. All the concern, worry or fear does nothing but destroy me inside.
