This reading is a great follow up to yesterday's Hope for Today reading, which highlighted the various ways the AlAnon slogan "Let Go and Let God" can be used. Today's C2C looks at what we can try if we are having difficulty with the 'letting go' part.
Some have found success with visualizing turning things over to god as an actual, physical exchange, featuring as much detail as needed to help them complete the transition mentally and emotionally. We all are unique, so the key to making this work is taking the time and effort to find out what works for us.
We are reminded: If we are worried about a situation or a loved one, we need the help that can come only from a caring god or higher power. Fighting the problem on our own will only add to our anxiety, while turning things over to god is better for everyone.

*********** I continue to work hard to overcome my various and many character defects that contribute to my reluctance to turn things over. These range from arrogance, desire to maintain control, reluctance to ask for help, and initially, a lack of belief in a higher power.
One of the things that really helped me break through was the understanding that not only was it the best thing I could do for my sanity, but also for someone I was worried about (my most challenging to turn over). Allowing them to find their way, with their own higher power, gives them the respect and room they deserve and keeps me from playing god.
Let Go and Let God is a compact but powerful slogan that I am using more because of its effectiveness in reminding me: I can't solve every problem I see, I shouldn't try, but my higher power can if I turn it over. Grateful for the reminder, and the power of the program

Hi Paul Thanls for posting your thoughts on this important topic. I agree that "Let go and let God" is a powerful slogan and a powerful tool in my recovery toolbox I have found it works miracles. When i have actually been successful in doing this, I was astounded at the results. Solutions, that I had not considered surfaced and the issue resolved itself nicely .

Thank you for this. I also have been using that more and more. At first I only thought of letting God have the drinkers and asking that they be taken care of and I got a lot of relief from this idea. Lately I want to work on letting go and letting God have more and more of my shortcomings. they are serving me less and less and in fact no when im slipping and my old behaviours and thought processes come back I find it hard to cope with them. Im thinking this is a good thing and maybe coming to a point of surrendering them and hopefully getting to the point of willingly giving them to God, becoming entirely ready. Thanks for sharing the readings, I appreciate it.

Thanks Paul for your service, the daily and your ESH. Thanks to all others for the shares.....I am one who does much better with concepts and attitude/behavior changes if I have instructions....Letting Go and Letting God is a part of my everyday - I begin in the morning with my routine and continue as needed.
My days go so much better when I stay close to my program/higher power. My biggest obstacle between me and my HP continues to be fear - fear of failure, fear of not getting what I want and/or fear of success. This fear resides deep inside me, and tends to blip out in negative ways when I step away.
