I am so scared... I really thought there was some hope. They are going to give him this medication to get ammonia out of his brain. If it works, he's going home to die. Hospice has been called. OMG I never thought I would see this.

So sorry for this. Terrible disease. Breathe and take care of yourself. You can't fix this for others. ((Prayers/Hugs))

I know, it's my 90 year old mom I am most worried about. She knows he's in hospital, but doesn't know how bad. Thanks for reminding me. All I can fix is myself.

I send my thoughts and prayers for you and your family, too. (((Lucy)))
I've been involved with home hospice with my mother and my mother-in-law. It was very hard, but the hospice workers did everything they could to ease our pain and worries. Take advantage of all of the experience and resources they have to offer; I found that the support group and respite care especially helpful.
Please take good care of yourself.

Sorry Alice... This councilor I know made all this worse. She said: Now this is a part of your family history. He left a terrible "legacy" I think Alcoholism can happen to anyone given enough alcohol and enough stress. He had PTSD from his working in the military. In a way he's suffering from PTSD and medicated himself. I don't see what that is a "bad" legacy. For sure he could have coped better, and maybe that's a lesson there.

So sorry for you that this is all coming at you. Hospice is a wonderful organization. Take advantage of all their expertise. Your councilor sounds to be very judgmental. Take what you like and leave the rest.
