Has shrunk so much. Its so good. It does inflate now and again and I get the whole 'I know best' 'do what I say' the whole you should... kind of vibe on the go but mostly my ego and my thumb is down to relatively realistic proportions. Hows your thumb these days?

Hahaha. Love it. Mine has shrunk to a much more manageable size. Now I have resigned from being Mother Theresa, running Britain and the world in general, have put my soap box away in the cupboard and am minding my own business a lot more.
I no longer have a white horse that I gallop about on looking for people to save and rescue. This being people who dont actually want saving and rescuing but a little thing like that never stopped me. I knew better, of course.
Thanks for the laughs.
I do start to charge in sometimes but now my tummy reacts which reminds me to stop.

Grade thread, el-cee! Love it!
I believe my thumb is getting back to a normal size most days.
I have also put away the hammer to stop hammering my point all day.
I have put away the banners declaring how right I always am.
I put away the megaphone because voicing my opinions and advice louder didn't matter.
I also tucked away my sighs, eye-rolls, and middle finger that I hid from view.
I have put away the running shoes that allowed me to run everyone's life.
I actually aquired a lock for my mouth, although sometimes that lock doesn't always work.
How fun this was! Who can add to it????

I have shattered my crystal ball and broken my magic wand in pieces. I dropped out of drama club and disassembled the circus at my home. I've removed my pointing fingers to place focus where it should be. I flushed my fairy dust and and sold my blame game in a garage sale....
I must admit - when I saw the title, I thought I had missed a post about broken thumbs. I got into a car accident a few years ago, and both of my thumbs got broken by the exploding air bags! I learned that day that they no longer recommend 10 and 2 for hand positions on the steering wheel!!! I am a literal human at times - SMH!!!
Great thread Calm Lady - carry on!

Laughing like a crazy woman!!
I have also retired from knowing EVERYTHING!
Resigned from being a diva. Stopped flouncing about, slamming doors. stopped wearing a tiara.
Advising everybody about everything!
I now use the words I was forbidden to say in the past - I don't know!
No wonder I was so exhausted and grumpy all the time.

There is a reading in the ODAT that addresses this topic. It points out that when we are busy giving advise and telling others what to do, they do not have to do anything or even think for themselves as we are doing all the work. That made sense to me many years ago and I retired my thumb as well. :)

Ok I don't get it - what's the inside joke on the "giant thumb" ??

It refers to our tendency to attempt to control others by telling them what to do and giving unwanted advise. Instead we can turn around and give ourselves the advise and focus on our own actions.

Confession here - I do still enjoy an eye roll now and then.
I was listening to an AA speaker who mentioned that he had retired his driving finger. Made me giggle.
We get so worked up by silly little things, meanwhile our lives are falling down around us. Is easier to fuss about nonsense than actually tackle big scary important things, I guess.

I'm hoping I can deflate my thumb soon.
So much to learn!

Oh - ok. Thanks for explaining. So basically it's OK to have a giant thumb as long as that giant thumb is only on ourselves. LOL
