I was at my home group meeting tonight -- great meeting, as it always is. I feel very comfortable there, and I have been wanting to make friends with people from al-anon outside of the meetings, but it has never happened. I've called a couple of people and they never called me back, and I've hung around hoping to strike up a conversation, but everyone always seems to have their own group. So I was heading to my car when a woman who was there for the first time started chatting with me - she's new to al-anon and she's trying different meetings and she asked me for my number! We exchanged numbers! And she gave me a hug! There I was wishing I could connect with one of the long-time members and instead my potential new friend is a new member -- thanks, Higher Power! I'm going to keep on doing my best to take life on life's terms and turn over my hopes and expectations. I'm off on vacation for the long weekend -- computer and phone free! Best wishes to everyone here in this fellowship.
