Welcome to MIP Doyouseeme - so glad you found us and glad that you shared. Addiction and alcoholism are progressive diseases that affect us too. I encourage you to seek out Al-Anon and/or Nar-Anon meetings to get the support and help you need. There is hope and I am sorry that you're having so much pain right now.
Keep coming back!

Hello Doyouseeme,
I am sorry that the experience of marriage has been hellish for you and that you grew up in a world dominated by alcoholism. The world must seem like a hostile place and yet I get a sense that you know that there are alternatives, that you deserve safety and some security in you life. It sounds to me as though you have limited outside support to draw on. I remember feeling exhausted by the abuse that I was subjected to and then I finally got a sense that I needed to use whatever resources that I had left to help myself - just small steps to begin with, but the more I practised the more I started to learn that I could do for myself many of the things that I needed, and that included loving and nurturing myself for a while. It came to feel as if this lesson in self-love was the one that the universe or fates or my higher power had been trying to teach me, and I finally turned up to class.
This site is a brilliant place to talk with people who really do understand and who have been where we are standing. It is ok to talk here. I think that the telephone numbers that Hotrod gave you may be able to help you as well and if you can get to a face to face Al Anon meeting you will find others who will help you to learn ways to step away from all the negativity towards a more positive world.
I like the invitation in your name by the way - I see you! Thank you for being here.
