The java chat entrance to our Al-Anon group chat/meeting room has been upgraded and appears to be working much better than it has for a while now. We installed a completely different java chat program that is really very good, and provides much easier viewing and font size and style options.
Please attend a meeting soon, or just pop in to chat and then return here and let me know what you think of the difference it makes for you to access the room and how it functions for you, k? I would appreciate the feedback asap.
Yes I have been able to log into chat more easily since it was changed.
Sadly I missed most of the marathon chats over New Year because I couldn't get into the room but it seems much better now.
Many thanks,
Chris52

Hi John,
The chat window does appear to be a bit more user friendly, last night though during the step meeting we kept getting server issues which would rechannel everybody in the room... is there anyway around that or has that been resolved as well? Other than that I like it.
Thanks John

Hi John,
I can't get in at all. What is this new pop-up asking me to "accept the plug in by some name". This comes with warnings that the certificate is not known or something like that.

yes, Bonnie, I have had the same thing pop up too, and Im afraid to click on it, because it says its unsafe...thinking I may have to withdraw from miracles in progress, and find another alanon, this is just too discouraging to find something great, and then get kicked out of it. I have no idea what happened...I enjoyed the chat room but now there is absolutely no way in ...

It is perfectly safe to accept the security certificate. It's just asking you if you want to run the Java applet to enter the chat room. It'll have some French guy's name on it; he's the one that wrote the software. I've had some people say it asks them every time; it only asked me once.
As for the red X, I had that happen on a new laptop and I had to go here to download the Java software:
I was trying to get in chat room for a week. I finally saw the posts here and I clicked on the message that come up and in the chat room right away. It's so good to have it back!

John,
Once I was able to accept Phillippe whoever and his security certificate, I have been able to get in and it has worked beautifully. I think the new format runs a lot more smoothly and except for the web splits or whatever when all the attendees get bounced and have to come back in, it had been great. I like the new look and the pm chatting is better also.
Thank you so much for all your service. Happy New Year.

We are working on the netsplit problem also, and may have a solution within a couple weeks. It's out of our control at the moment.

There shouldn't be anything in particular you need to do -- what is happening when you try to get in?

It was fine after that.
