Hi - I need some support, I am getting weird about these neighbors.
I looked again and read the deed restrictions, it says no building can extend beyond the building setback lines drawn on the platt. There are no building setback lines on the platt, I have looked and looked and looked at it, printed it out and looked at it. Our building setback lines are in the back of our lot. Everyone else in the neighborhood has building setback lines in the front, it even says "building set back lines 20" on the other streets.
So, I can't see where we are in violation (we put up a carport and getting harrassed by the neighbors and civic association). There are two subdivisions, (oh and by the way this civic club is a nonprofit organization) Knollwood Village and Braes Terrace II (we are Braes Terrace II), one of our friends is on the ACC committee, Architectural Control. We asked him how we go about getting approval and he told us there was no committee for ACC for Braes Terrace II so there was no one to ask.
So.... here is how I am getting weird. My neighbor next door has gone off on me before, she is nuts. I was putting a flyer across the street (nice neighbors) on their door about the school's can drive. Weirdo next door watched me, she was backing out of her driveway, sat there and watched me then she headed North on our street. I headed south and turned the corner before I knew it, she had turned around and she followed me down the next street then turned back north again. I am tired of being scared of the neighbors, do you have any experience, strength and hope to share?
thanks
Robin

Robinks,
I have felt the same way about neighbors before. Maybe the woman was just nosy. My mom is like that, always watching what everyone else is doing. Last month I traveled to Houston and had to conduct business in a fairly rough neighborhood. Needless to say I stuck out waay bad! But after a few hours I found that if I plastered a smile on my face. Said hello or good morning to every person and I even complimented them. Their disapproving looks and my anxiety went away.
Hope this helps you out. Sorry to hear about your carport problem. That really sucks!

My favorite saying/slogan is: "what you think of me is none of my business"......
Why do you care what your neighbors do or don't do? Have you ever tried just smiling nicely, saying "good day", and then walking away with your head held high? I find that nosey busy-bodies want and encourage us to get enmeshed in their crap (much like our A's!!). If we don't bite, they don't have any fun!!
Just a thought

yikes - ya may need a bullet proof jacket - we
had neighbors where I live assaulted with a gun
the other day. Myself, I have a large I raised from
a pup whose my guard dog. She is young still,
and I trained her in spanish so only I could
control her.
I've been assaulted by neighbors before - and
consider myself to b a loving person, thanks to
program, starting about 20 years ago. Let go,
let god/dess and keep yourself safe.
