Hello. I am looking for support through my trying times with my ah. I have small children and he's out of our house right now. Just wondering if there are any others in my posistion here. Raising children with A's in their lives. I've grown alot in the years. I have learned to detach. Me and my children are happy living without him so far so good. Well...they may not be too excited about it but they are better then they were with the argueing. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and helping you and you helping me through times. Thanks.

Friendofyours,
Welcome! It's so nice to have you here! I hope you keep coming back to be with us during chat and meetings. You'll come to love us all, I'm sure!!
My alcoholic is my 2nd husband, and stepfather to my almost 18 yr old daughter. I've been in alanon for 2 yrs now, since I found out he was drinking. We've only been married for 5 1/2 yrs, and my daughter and I both didn't know he was drinking...until he got arrested for DUI one night. She had a hard time dealing with it, but he was never really like a father to her, more like a friend. She is seeing us in alanon and aa, and I'm hoping that will help her to understand this disease.
Be strong and try to get involved in alanon. Your kids will see you as an example, and they may even like to try alateen. I wish you the best, and again, welcome to this site!
(((hugs)))

Hi again,
To get to chat, just click on "alanon group meeting chat" at the top left of the main page here, and it will take you to the chat room. Then follow the directions, choose a nickname, and type it in first before you type any comments in. Your nickname should be typed like this: /nick yournickname (use whatever nickname you want, and if it won't let you enter, then add a couple of numbers at the end of it, like /nick friendofyours123.
Hope this helps...

I look forward to getting to know you as well. Welcome. I am in a situation with an addict and I have three small children. This situation is difficult on the decision as well as us. One thing I try to keep in mind with regards to my children is that I have a choice if I stay or go, but they do not. The decisions I make and my behavior effects them enormously. I choose to stay with my husband which means I have to focus on myself and my chidlren annd be sure that his addiction effects us as little as possible. Keep coming back
