can someone explain or show me what or where to find the recovery programme for alanon members?
is it only the alcoholics that have the 12 step programme?
or do we have our own?
any help would be greatly appreciated

our twelve steps are basically the 12 of aa as well because this horrible addiction affect us as well. you can reword the steps to suit you. try the step work board at the top of the site in the left yellow box

Hi Rebecca,
I have a two daily readers that I use, one is courage to change, and the other is one day at a time in alanon. I also use paths to recovery in working the steps. You can find these at live (face to face) alanon meetings, or right on main page for this website.
Like new said, the steps used in alanon are the same as the steps used in the AA program. We learn that "we are powerless over alcohol (or the alcoholic) and that our lives have become unmanageable" For me, I was able to logically say this, but it did take awhile for it to sink in.
Hope this helps.. :)
Love in recovery

Al - Anon has the same steps as AA except step12 where they say help alcholics we changed it to others. We work the steps a little differently from AA as we are the none drinkers and our issues are not the same. here is the toll free international number to find meetings close to you 1-888-4alanon lines are open from 8am -8pm mon thru fri eastern time.
This board is great and chat room is helpful but nothing in my opinion tops real meetings with real people who can go for coffee on a bad day or pick up a ph one when your having a rough time. Once settled in al anon you never have to go thru anything alone again. Unless of course you choose to. good luck Louise

if you go to the main page there is a step board that tells of the 12 steps and there are those of us trying to work them.
Come to the meetings online and f2f and you'll find a great understanding of the alanon 12 step program.
