I just got divorced 111105. I feel angry and I know I need to let it go. I even have angry dreams. I feel, basically, like I got traded for booze. I tried for 10 years to have a normal life. I didn't realize the magnitude of the problem until I had been married for a while. My A came from a family of alcoholics--a long line of them.
I realized at age 14 that my dad was an alcoholic. Maybe I was trying to fix my dad in some way?
Anyway...I am now divorced, living with my 8 yr old. My ex husband/A rarely calls our child. He spent the last 2 weeks out of state with his drinking family. If anything had happened to my child, I would not have been able to reach him. I just wish someone could say the words to me to make me stop thinking about it, accept it. I don't want to be angry any more. I need to make peace with myself.

This is raw right now, I am sure. Welcome to Miracles in Progress (MIP). First of all divorce is like death in many ways and you will experience the 5 stages. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and oh so thankfully and finally ACCEPTANCE. There's just no easy way through this. I wish I could say there was. The best way to help yourself and your child is to feel the feelings (in a safe environment), deal with the feelings (talk, talk, talk - talk here on the boards, talk in our chat room and talk to a counselor -- both you and your child) and then heal from the experience. It will make you stronger.
