(((Barbara))))
Believe it or not, going to the movies alone can be very relaxing. The first time I did it, I was convinced that everyone was staring at me or feeling sorry for me. I realized, it was me feeling awkward, no one else really noticed.
Now if I want to see a movie, I go, if no one wants to come with me, I go akone and enjoy every moment of it.

Hi Barbara
I have gone to the movies alone and on a holiday.
I agree in the dark no one cares.
How about:
take a walk
Put on some movies on another TV that you want to watch
read a book.
Go to the convenience store and buy 5 magazines and relax away from everyone and read them
Post here, I will be on in the morning, baking....
Order Chinese takeout, trust me, they are open on every holiday.
Be kind and patient with yourself.
make a list of things you are grateful for.
have a snowball fight with your son.
Decorate for Christmas
be kind to yourself
In support

hmmm... It's 3 am & I'm still up baking. I usually watch the Macy's Day parade but my folks were talking about going to see the Johnny Cash movie....
If I am anywhere near a 'puter, I'm signed into this Board... I too am always within ear shot. I used to hate going to eat or go to movies by myself, but once I tried it once, I really enjoyed it. No one watching my bizarre idiocyncratice eating habit -- and I LOVE going to the matinee's -- less people, can stretch out, put your feet up & laugh as loudly as you like.
I guess I'm a bit a-social. Do what you want to do, when I dread something, it always seems to be less than I projected.
Happy Holidays, love, -K
I plan on sleeping in tomorrow, so who knows if I'l even catch any of the parade.
