Good morning all at this mornings meeting I related to topic of fear today as well as self esteem…
I am very empathetic to all these situaitons I hear in meetings that this disease has caused and all the fear that can come along with it. I know HP will give us all the guidance we need to get thru it
And let us know what His will is 4 us…. 4 me
I am thinking a lot on step 11 and tradition 11 this month and even concept 11 those concepts r new 2 me but I can see the al-anon wisdom in them that helps guide us in groups and me in my life if I let it
The thing I needed to learn with tradition 11 is the attraction not promotion piece I used to promote the program like a selling thing, part was sincerely wanting others 2 have peace and part was wanting to gain self esteem from convincing others I had the answer and the answer was al-anon
2 day my self esteem is more from working at seeing my self as hp intends me 2 a child of God with both divine and human qualities I get that when I keep working step 11 and keep conscious contact thru day and surrender my will
then I see me as equal 2 others not less or greater than and not attaching to someone else’s perception of me, since that is usually twisted to suit their own needs unless they r extremely healthy
I think I had really only "others-esteem" by doing that anyway
and so of course my self worth would fluctuate as a result …depending on the moods of others
in the long version of concept 11 it states that al-anon has separate committees to do specific functions and I can use that with my life… I am a separate committee (entity) from my husband or the a or my children and
we all have our things and functions to do in this world and lessons to learn
and if the al-anon literature committee isn’t doing their job then the al-anon outreach committee doesn’t come in and do it 4 them
IN the same way if I think the husband committee isn’t doing things right—I don’t have to go do it 4 him or own that I own my own little sharon committee and that keeps me busy enough
focusing on me does bring self esteem and just being the best person I can be and working the steps and traditions and concepts in my affairs as best I can then recognizing where I need to improve and doing that one day at a time.
I forget that if I don’t come here enough
Today the sharon committee must pray for some of these other "committees" that don’t seem to pull their wieight that also gives me self esteem it is like doing something for others and not getting found out…it feels good and helpful and unselfish.
