There are moments which simply happen through no conscious intention or will on anyone's part. The image of an old woman with a peaceful face, the smell of smoke rising from a chimney on a chilly night, the knowing look of recognition from a friend as we make a comment, the special feeling of a touch. These are spiritual moments because they reach a deeper part of our being. They are like a sliver in time set aside which nourishes our souls and adds serenity to our lives.
We grow when we learn to notice these kinds of moments. In our willfulness, we have often missed them before because we simply were not open to anything we weren't already looking for. This world is so much larger than the human mind. In recovery, we can take time to admire the beauty reflected around us.Today, I will let the rest of life intrude upon my mind. I will let myself be nourished by what comes along.
#####ROSIE...B4 recovery i did NOT notice anything but my suffering, my hate/ resentment/ victim mentality in my life....i thought i was serving out a sentence..burning off some god awful karma and i had to *suck it up* *wait to die* but serve out this prison sentence first....i saw NO way out....NO relief.....NO end to it........my saying was "life sucks -- than you die"........now???? i can stop and admire beautiful flowers, see the clouds in the sky.....i saw a calander in wall mart of my favorit dog!!! black labrador retreivers....i rescue these creatures because i have had them all my life and i want to give back something that they have given me....Anyway, i was looking at the pictures in the calandar, gushing over the gorgeous black shiny fur, and my 3 dogs were watching me!!! my big yellow female "zoe" my big black lab "betsy" and my almost as big black lab "kelly" anyway, i looked at their soft, clean fur, their soft snouts, with those oh so familiar big brown eyes..like chocolate gems!!! i looked at those adoring/ loyal faces of dogs who would get killed before they let anyone hurt me (who says they don't protect??) anyway, i told my *girls* that NObody in that whole calandar was as pretty as my "kids" were....... yeah, i let their beauty and their love "intrude upon my mind" and it felt great.......B4 recovery i was too busy bitching and moaning over my past and all the people who harmed me!!! now??? they are not worth my thoughts.....i am not a total fan of the bible but some of it resonates with me and paul said basically to "fill up our minds with thoughts that are beautiful/ loving/ positive/ abundent.............all things good"..........now i can see why he said it......AS i *fill me up with the good* there is becomming less and less room for the negative!!!!!!!! thank you DONE

Hey - I am also a Lab Lover - I have 2. Black lab - Zeus (male will be 3 on Halloween) and yellow female Georgia (we rescued her from the state Georgia)

hey "Dog" bless your heart, rescueing that sweet little doggie "georgia" LOVE her name.....i am getting ready to visit with a 13 yr. old lab female who was *dumped* at one of the animal shelters i work with....the supervisor there told me this guy was moving and dumped her at the pound......oh my heart is sick over it.....i told "debbie" , the supv. that "that sweet creature is NOT going to die at the pound" if someone doesn't take her i am......i know it will be a "day to day" thing with a doggie that old, but she deserves to die in a loving home...not at the pound.......i am getting ready to meet her , so i can network her...but i will probably end up having to take her to my home.....i just fear noone will want her!!! and that breaks my heart....i found out about it yesterday and i have been SICK over it since......anyway, thank you for your post.....its nice to know that there are good people on this planet who want to help our loving "critters" see ya/ rosie
