I had a tough day yesterday. Someone told me something I did not want to hear. I felt like they were belittling my actions. This sent me into a negative downwards spiral. I began self doubting myself once more. It really hurt my mind-set and my progress.
I had been told 3 times that morning that I was were I was at for a reason. I had finally accepted that and was trying to patiently wait for my next sign. This was not the sign I wanted, expected (not that I try to expect anything) or needed.
I just wanted to let people know that they should NOT take everything to heart. Someone last night told me I should take what I want and leave the rest. I have heard that phrase however it has never meant much to me. Last night it did. Everyone has their own views and that is their prerogative... HOWEVER don’t let their views disrupt your progress! You should take what information you feel is helpful and leave the rest behind. You must move through this process at your own speed and in your own way. Just do what you can for today and move on. I am going to be doing this today… I cannot allow myself to go backwards right now… I have places to go and things to do… so watch out world here I come!
Linda
And.... thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far!
Take what you want and leave the rest!

That was well started. It is important to not let anything come in the middle of your progress. You have to do what is right for you. Some people have there views on the way things should be but if you don't feel that way then it isn't helping you. It is important to believe what you are doing is right for your self. Don't do it because someone else said it was a good idea.

Thank you for the good reminder. I tend to be a self-doubter, thrown off by (sometimes only my perception) negative comments too. It's good to remember that this is another aspect of the disease.

Great post, and a great reminder.... Kudo's to you for not harboring resentments toward the person whom "you allowed to interrupt" your progress...
I think this is a very key point.... I used to say that my A "pushed my buttons", but I was corrected, to where I now believe that "I allowed her to push my buttons". Personal responsibility and accountability are key ingredients for OUR recovery, and not just our A's.... It is said that, outside of the drinking - we can be VERY similar to our A's, and I think you hit on a great point..... Depending where we are in our own recovery and/or headspace, we sometimes allow outside influences to take the focus off what is truly important -- ourselves, and OUR recovery.
Thanks for the reminder

Thank You so much for this reminder, "Take what you like and leave the rest" Sometimes I need to turn that selective hearing "on"
