I foolishly tried to kill myself after reading a letter from my wife, now everyone thinks i have a drug problem, my history as an alcoholic preceeds the drug use, I feel I do not abuse drugs given me by my doctor but after reading the most painful thing ever led me to a bottle of my prescription drugs, does this now mean I am a drug addict too? Thank my hp for making sure nobody was hurt, I drove across town while the drugs were indeed taking over, I think I was only crying out for help. it was this forum my wife wrote the letter, now I kinda understand but being an aholic of all types, I took it to the extreme as usual. I read your post today and had to respond.  My heart and prayers go out to my hp for you.  I hope you can find peace inside and look toward your future in a positive way.  Please be safe, love yourself as you are special.  Your posts make me aware of how dangerous and how vulnerable we all can be to alcohol and drugs in different ways.  Your post have been helpful to me and I wanted to thank you for that.  Please take care of yourself and keep coming here.  We love you and embrace you.

Doesn't matter if you are a drug addict too. The answer is the same. Stay close to your program, cling to your Higher Power, ask for help, learn to love yourself.. My husband is a drug addict as well as an alcoholic. It's all just another aspect of the same old, deadly disease. We're all here because we know it all too well, and most of us have yet another aspect of it.

I agree...it doesn't matter if you have addictions to multipul things.....you are in need of help and we are here for you.  May you find comfort here and no you are not alone in your journey to recovery.

As a fellow alcoholic in recovery I feel compelled to call you on your shit. Sober people do not attempt suicide. You may have stopped drinking, but there is still some major work to do on your sobriety. Concern about whether or not taking drugs to kill yourself makes you a drug addict or not is really missing the point, isn't it?

Do you have a sponsor? Are you really working on the steps? These are the things that will get you sober. 'Don't drink and go to meetings' is OK advice, but does not make an alcoholic recovered. The steps do. Not just reading the steps. Not just learning the steps. Not going to step meetings and talking about the steps. Doing the steps.

NOOO!!! you are NOT a drug addict,  you are just a spirit who got really hurt, and your inner child,  just wanted OUT of the pain!!!!!!  please there IS another way to make  *little sober* feel good/ safe/ worthy ........hang with us,   share your heart out.....come to the meets.....you are a LOVED spirit of the universe....a child of God.......

NOone is worth hurting youself over....i did that too,   i tried suicide SERIOUSLY a couple of times and i am glad my HP  did not let my abuser win!!!!!  i am the winner becuz i am here!!!!! working my program/   recovering.....you can do it!!!  you got here....it took a LOT of guts to tell us your pain in this post.........you are WORTH it......we KNOW you are worth it.......hugs, and prayers from rosie
