Tonight was a quiet night and for the first time in a while, it was OK to be alone. I wasn't lonely. I wasn't sad. I just was. It's been raining here for days and it was nice to just sit in. I had asked my friends up the block to come for coffee and when they declined, it was OK. Had a rough day at work, it was OK in the end. Watched a good movie and now I'm ready for bed. It just feels good to be OK alone. Just thought I'd share........

Hi Kim! My husband is travelling quite a bit these days because of his job. When I first found out that would be the case I was anxious about being lonely. But I'm enjoying the me time. Before alanon i remember i always used to have my cell phone on, and i jumped from one activity to another. Now a lot of times I'm content to turn my phone off and just read a book. It feels nice to enjoy my own company :) thanks for the reminder! kristen

I am finding that being by myself is not lonely.  I am finding a whole new acceptance.  Your weather sounds like ours, it's been raining on and off for a few days.  I like it.

Hi being on my own has always been like my sacred space.  I am one of those people who loves my own company.  I thrive on time just for me it helps me to re-charge.  I can't wait when my husband and my teenage boys say they are going away.  It is great to hear you thinking about your own needs.  Luv Leo 

Kim, In time you will learn the difference between solitude and lonliness. It takes a few times, but you'll get the hang of it. I have a hard time being alone. But I am trying to work on it. Things that I do is watch tv or call people on the phone so my mind doesn't race as much.
