I have been lurking for a week or so and had a question for anyone who might be kind enough to respond.
My wife is an "A". She was in rehap this spring and went to some AA meetings for a while but we are back to the former person for now, no restraint. I have been refusing to do some activities with her while she is drinking, i.e. vacations and dinners outside of the home.
She came home this afternoon at 4:00 clearly intoxicated and went to sleep for a while. There is a bible study at 6:00 and I am really torn whether to take her or not. I'm not sure if the slurring will cease by then. My gut tells me to leave her at home and go by myself.
What would you do?

hi Jeeves,
We're not supposed to give "advice" here I guess, but reading your post I have to say if you want to go to the bible study, you should.
As for taking your intoxicated spouse, if it were me I wouldn't. I no longer go anywhere with my a hubby when he has been drinking and smells of alcohol.
Hope it helps,
Bonnie

Jeeves,
Welcome and glad you are here.
No we are not supposed to give advice, but share our experience, strength, and hope. From that you can take what you like and leave the rest.
Like Tammy, I refuse to go anywhere when my "A" is high of intoxicated. He always embarasses me, and quite frankly I don't need another child to sush. When we go anywhere I have expectations on his behaviour and expectations are premeditated resentments.
Keep coming back!
Much Love,

Thanks Everyone! I certainly appreicate you all taking time to read my post and respond. Also for the words of encouragement.
I left her at home and went to the Bible study. Got home afterwards and she had eaten and was asleep, by 7:30 pm.
Life goes on.

Hello Jeeves , I hope u find time to add an Al-Anon meeting or two to your week, t his board is great but nothing l ike u will find in our program. U need support and church is awsome help but if the people u are talking to have not lived with alcoholism they really don't have a clue whats going on or understanding. Al-Anon and church work great together. Louise
