I just had my aid meeting. They gave me $100 in food stamps good until Sept. 9, leads on jobs and low-cost housing. My caseworker couldn't have been nicer about it :) After Sept. 9, food stamps go up to $149.
Infinite gratitude to those who have helped whether with money orders or just showing up to chat or just reading posts!!
My caseworker has asked me to request store/gas cards once I learn the stores here or money orders made out to a specific business. I also know where the free and low cost food is.
I want to make one thing clear: Homeless is just a temporary phase. I told the case worker very plainly that I wanted to earn my keep and get to work. As long as I don't earn $1000 a month by work I can max out on state aid. Social Security (SSI/SSD) I can't get until I can't work for a year.
This town will get me into shape even if it kills me :). The transit system is arranged so that one must walk at least some distance to get to the good stuff! I also need to learn the cheats so I only have to walk 2 blocks instead of 12.
This weekend i need to explore Clark County, WA (north) and Beaverton (SW Portland) to see what resources i can scrounge. the more i know, the better.
Post XI is likely coming Monday...same hax-time, same hax-channel muahahahah :)

I am very glad that things are starting to take shape for you so quickly. Like that old song says.....excuse the off key singing lol......"..grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face..". It sounds like Oregon is treating you very well, and I hope it continues to, you deserve it!!!!! I have learned alot about the program from you and know Im not alone in saying that things just arent the same without you here as much as you were, but I know you will be back in full force soon enough :) You take care of yourself, and have water with ya when your takin that 12 block hike.

Somehow I started to put up a post here and it dissappeared into Internet oblivion somewhere......lol. Great to hear things are rolling along so well for you Hax. I think sometimes we reach a point in life where a definate change in scenery/environment is beneficial, and it sounds that way for you. (Actually that's one reason my brother moved to Dallas about 7 years ago after living here in Colorado all his life). Keep up the good work.

I hope its well your ways.. n that things level 4 u.. U deserve it!
My life has been abounding with sillyness - I look down the
barrel of do I stay or do I go.
I try to get into chat except some applet freezes up on me,
maybe I have to hit the alt control delete button - I dunno.
The past couple years have been for me like that - I have
to hit alt control delete and start over...
Oceans of love 2 u, I appreciate you eversomuch - ur bud in recovery, \/\/ille
