I hope you are all well.

This is something I wanted to share with you all.

There is an older lady at work, I always knew she was a pip, always smiling, joking, and makes everyone feel good just being around her. She has an incredible smile and bright red hair. I never knew how old she was I figured in her sixties somewhere. The other day, we where all sitting outside getting ready to get started and it came up that she is 76. I said God bless you, you don't look it.

She then told me yes she is 76 and has been married to a drunk for 50 years. I just looked at her and she said I have him to thank for me being so young. She told me that years ago, she realized there was nothing she could do about his drinking. She loved him and was going to give herself the best life possible. She said she started taking care of herself, both physically and emotionally. She began working hard and playing hard, and said she started the greatest love affair of all time, with herself.

She said yes her husband is a drunk, but she loves him and accepts him for what he is, then she said and me I'm 76 and incredible, and I get better every year.

I agree with her, she is incredible and she is the embodiment of what Alanon can do, if we let it.
