Someone in the chat room mentioned page 305 from the Courage to Change book. It's a good reading about fear and how our reactions to it can sometimes hurt us more than help. I encourage everyone to read it.
One of my favorite slogans is "don't just do something, stand there." Whenever I feel the need to react to a disaster because I fear the consequences or feel like I need to "help", I can remember that slogan and remind myself that sometimes you just have to let the disaster play and not react.
Fear was a big motivator or unmotivator in my life. Now I can use this slogan and "think" before I react and turn over my fear to my higher power.
Much love everyone, SenoraBob

Hi...and thanks for the share. Fear is a HUGE (un) motivator in my life. I mainly fear my A's rage. I'll try that "stand there" next time and see if it helps. Thanks

hey
thanks so much for this reminder. My husband was so foul yesterday, yelling at anyone who moved into his eyesight, because he is coming down off meth. I hate him so much when he is acting like this but I think I am really afraid of him, due to past abusive relationships, and the look of intense anger on his face. So basically I have to keep telling myself over and over "Don't say anything, don't say anything, don't say anything" and this too will pass. If I start returning the rage he just then has an excuse to unload all of his frustration and blame onto me!!!!
thanks

Thank You, I forgot that was another choice--to just stand there. Sometimes, I begin to pace, fret, or try to dodge something !
