I am new to this.........If I were to start writing how I feel there would be no end. Ihave been married 30 years and my husband is an addict/alcoholic. This past week he was on vacation and it has been pure hell. Tried to run out in front of a car but he got me. I guess I am just looking for others who are going through this too.......

I am married 14 years here to an alcoholic.
This got incredibly horrible after he was fired from his job 3 1/2 years ago.
He started drinking 24/7 instead of just at night.
It was awful. he was very verbally abusive. He is insane.
Alanon will give you the tools to cope with living with an alcoholic.
Have you gone to a face to face alanon meeting?
There are meetings right here on this board 9am and 9pm. They have helped me to take my life back from living under a rock.
I am enjoying the sunshine.

CKH just keep coming back. I too don't have many local friends, but I have made many through Alanon locally and through MIP. Many of talk on instant messanging services too about personal issues when you find someone people you feel close to ask. Some even call each other. We can't reach out and give you a tight hug, but it doesn't mean we care any less. You may want to check out our step board and work our steps, I know a book lieing around probably wouldn't go over well for you. You can do google searches and get good information too that he won't know about. Just know we are here for you and keep thinking of a plan.

You have come to the right place! We think that we are the only ones who have gone through this and we are not alone. I have been married 31 years to a recovering A who has picked up other addictions. He walked out on our marriage he said to save himself, quit working on the relationship, and be happy. He says he will never change and will be an addict forever.
So I have to try to take myself out of this disease and focus on my own recovery. Alanon is for us and we are worth it. Don't be afraid to share your feelings here. Maybe a little at a time so you don't overwelm yourself. I have good days and bad days but I do not want to go down with him.
