Hi Everyone,

I have been reading my book I just got thru the bookstore here, Alanon,"Paths to Recovery", Alanon's Steps, Traditions and Concepts.  I can see ways in which I have matured, as far as my thinking goes.  Ha!  Finally after 20 yrs I can see this difference!  I know this cause the other day my EX called.  The ex, who was the A in my life, who is STILL drunk as a skunk...  He asked to speak to my son who has been in jail three months now.  He had a conversation with me about this 3 months ago when the article came out in the paper.  My son, who sadly is NOW the A in my life is in jail from alcohol related troubles. In the past something like this would REALLY tic me off, but that day it barely touched me.  I am either hardened or more skilled at controlling my emotions.  ( I pick the second!!)

My daughter is moving back in with us for the summer.  Our house is VERY small and I take care of a Dev Disabled Adult here, so it is going to be LOUD..  She has a 2 yr old, whom I dearly love..... She has depression issues and right now she needs a little from me too.  Her boyfriend was critically injured ina shooting accident.  He is paralyzed from the waist down.  This happened in April, so we are all still trying to deal with it.  She is trying to be there for him as much as she can.  It's hard to do that and be a mom too.  Hence my help comes in handy.  With my job being at home I am here for that kind of grand-parenting.  My other child is 20 and so far his life is going well.

Last weekend we traveled way up north to the prison where my son is.    He looks GREAT.  Whenever he is not drinking and eating regular he looks wonderful.  We (hubby and I) brought his son up with us too.  His little guy is 2 also.   Our 2 grandchildren were born 2 weeks  apart.  Not bad for  first time grandparents!!  His son was so excited to see him.  I am trying now to learn to accept the fact that Justin chooses to drink over fathering.....That is a big issue for me.  His dad did the same thing. 

I am working hard to accept this without condoning it.  If I was ever at fault for anything it would be trying so hard to change my ex.  I realize now that my son makes me feel the same way my ex did.  I am working hard NOT to react inthe same way.  Gee, am I gettinga second chance?  hope so...

Well I'm off to read some of the messages here.  Just wanted to chat here a bit.....

Wow, what a wonderful attitude you have!!

Seeing things as a second chance with your son instead of "oh no, not again" really is a great outlook.  :)

Thanks for the encouragement.   Been really busy here lately and have not had much time to post.  Today I am tired.  I feel just like laying around and EATING today...lol.  GuessI won't do that either...
