Just needed to vent, as my daughter who is 16 years old has suddenly in the last 2 months began to be tardy at school, which led to full days skipped, and now tonight is the 2nd night this week that she has not come home and I've had to file a runaway report. :(
The scariest part about all of this is that she has a seizure disorder and should be taking her medication tonight and in the morning.
This has escalated now from about a month ago in which I got a call from the Deputy Sheriff at her school informing me that she and a friend had been caught drinking in the bathroom at school. This is completely out of character of my daughter and I have no idea what is happening with her. In the last 9 years, if I had to add counseling up for myself and children, I would guess it to total a minimum of $100,000. I just cannot understand what is occuring suddenly with her. :( I'm out of resources, as all the doctors and counselors as well are worried because of the sudden change. But, how do you keep a 16 year old home? :(
She refused to disclose who the people are she is hanging around with and this only gets worse when her father (who is currently in jail with 2 OWI's) contacts her and tells her that I only want to get rid of her when suggesting a rehab facility in Rockford, Illinois for teen addictions that was actually recommended by the Pastor of our church.
I am out of resources and very worried for her well-being. The doc had given me Wellbutrin a couple of weeks ago and I must say, it is making a TREMENDOUS amount of difference in my reaction to all of this, as I feel almost NO anxiety over this whatsoever. Sometimes, I feel bad because I'm not freaking out, but of course when I go to bed at night, tears develop as prayers to God are happening. While I drive to work, listening to strong spiritual music, tears again develop as I ask God to watch over her.
Please keep her in your prayers, as I know at this point this is ALL I can do is give it to God. :(

all i have to say is puberty. your daughter sounds exactly like mine when she was that age. she started skipping school, then she started hanging around with a different group of kids. she ran away from home and we didn't know where the H*** she was for ages. she never called to say "hi mom, i'm safe" she just let us worry. i filed a report with the police and they said there wasn't anything they could do. she could have been dead for all we knew. we didn't have a clue. they did, however, inform me that she was under age and still our responsibility and if she did something illegal and got caught, we would be responsible for her still. to make a long story short.......she did turn up. apparently she went to live with this boy she met. his father had recently separated from his wife and he was sewing his wild oats upstairs and his son was sewing his oats with my daughter in the basement. she told this boys father that we were beating her at home so he let her stay at their house. she got pregnant and had an abortion, which i found out sometime later. she was having fainting and stomach trouble around that time and apparantly the x-rays she was supposed to be getting the day i dropped her off at the hospital was really the secretly planned abortion. i was furious when i found out. to make a long story short.......kids do the stupidest things. i had to let her go or go insane trying to control her. she was out of control. i was so hurt and so furious and so sick with worry at the time. she did come around after a year or so and after i stopped reacting to her goings on. she is happily married today to a super guy and he worships the ground she walks on. she is very lucky and so am i. she and i have a great relationship today and i am very proud of her. hopefully your daughter doesn't get quite as crazy as mine did but if she does there isn't anything you can do to stop her. the law is on her side. hope i helped. it isn't easy raising teenagers but i know this too shall pass as she gets older. hang in there and try to let go a little if you can.

Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate your words and prayers. :) I know I've exhausted all my resources and there is nothing left to go BUT let go. The police, the counselors, school staff, and many doctors I've had with her over the past 5 years have been incredible as well. I don't know how myself, my daughter or my son could have gotten this far without all of them. And of course, all the special people that God continues to bring into each of our lives offering encouragement and support, which only allows my faith in God to be strengthened and keep focused on how EVERYTHING is part of His larger plan. Something, although I do not understand at times, allows me to trust in Him first and always.
