For my parents: My dad is an active a and he doesn't show any time of wanting to stop. He drinks alot of scotch. My mom is getting to the point where she wants him to go to a rehab or aa or she says she is going to leave. My father suffers from health problems. My mom and my dad went to Florida to see the problems that are wrong with him, one of the things he has to do is stop drinking and he is against that. Yesterday my mom brought up alittle that she was up set at his drinking but she brought it up when he had been drinking a while during the day. So I know that is the worst time to bring the subject up. I tried to help her by talking to him but he had closed up. I know there is nothing we can do unless he wants help. I told my mom to go back to Alanon but she doesn't want too.

I was talking to my mom an she said he is talking aboutrehab.

If your dad mentioned rehab and not your mom and it is him speaking... well he realizes there is a problem.  If he is thinking about it that sounds like some progress to me.. I wouldn't push the subject, they have to want it for them selves.
