I went canoeing on the Delware river on Saturday and Sunday with my family and the Boy scout troop that my brother helps out with
7 of the 10 of us siblings went. (Most were in town from all over for my sisters law school graduation)
It was great fun and the first time I had ever canoed on the river.
The others had all done this before.
I asked one of the scoutmasters how to get through the rapids (fast water, big rocks)
He said "get down on your knees and pray"
And so I did.
With my brother in the back and me in the front - navigating - yikes, we travelled the rapids.
The first set we went though sideways but stayed in the canoe.
The next ones we did better and missed the big rocks.
So we survived the rapids day 1
I wanted to do better the next day. I discussed with my family that evening about the rapids. More advice. Paddle hard and move the canoe forward so that you don't get tossed around.
Day 2 had many many rapids and I paddled very very hard through them as did my brother. I was still on my knees, and I was still praying not to tump (dump over)
but now I was paddling hard and we shot through the rapids nicely, what joy what fun, we shouted encouragement to each other and paddled hard.
So much advice relative to life and what I have learned in the alanon program. God will move the mountain but you need to pick up the shovel
My arms are tired from the exertion and my muscles are sore from use rather than unuse, but they'll get stronger, as will I.

Hi Hon
I am glad that you had a nice time on your trip. It is good to see that you posted it so that every one can see that you had fun and that you enjoy your self that you were able to focus on something other then your problems. It is very important at times to take a break from our problems we can get ourself to gether and we might even find the solution to a problem. I am so happy that you had fun and enjoy your self.
