I am new to this forum, but not necessarily new to Alanon. I gave up some of my "info" in the bio part of joining. I would just really rather "share as I go". I am 51 yrs old , divorced, remarried, mom to three kids that I love and a grandma to two boys. (each 2 yrs old) One of my grandsons is the child of my alcoholic son, who at this time is in prison. I just today purchased the alanon 12 steps book, so I can re-associate myself with all the principles and helping techniques that I need to be using. I thought when I got divorced from my alcholic husband that I was "free" of the worries of an enabler and all the codependant issues I had. Boy do I STILL have a lot to learn. It was quite a shock to me to realize that I behave the same way to my son as I did my ex! Of course I know that it is not my fault that he drinks, but I became part of his problem so EASILY! wow....I fell right into the whole thing. This is obviously something that I will need help with all my life. Anyway that is what brings me back to Alanon. Thank God for computers and this place. I love in such a small town that there really is NO anonymity. I look forward to posting here and reading the posts from all of you. BTW the camping thing sounds wonderful. I am not sure if I can make it or not tho. What a great idea. I live in Vermont. New Hampshire is right next door and where I do most of my shopping. Take care everyone!

Welcome Mama, So glad you are here and are posting. We also have online meetings M-F 9 am EST and 9 pm EST, Sat 10 am - 9 pm, Sun 10 am - 7 pm EST.
Join us!!! Also, I am attending NH Camping. It will be al-anon friends. We'd love to have you if you are interested. These are people whom I have not met but have been doing online meetings with for quite some time now.

Welcome Mama - Glad you've come back to Al-Anon. I no longer have active a's in my life but I couldn't do without my meetings and this site.
I need to be reminded daily that I'm not in charge.
The get-to-gether does sound great! I met with some of the group in Kansas a few years ago - loved it. But I'll be recuperating from surgery so can't make it this year.
