Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you all so very much, you all have brought more tears to my eyes. They have to dry up sometime soon dont they? I think with all the tears i need about a gallon of water and a brick of salt to replace them.
I spend all day playing and grooming my beloved Blue. I watched him dance and mow the grass with his friend Dancer (who is more his own colt), hand fed him about a bag of grain and treats, braided his mane and tail, and said goodbye to my friend at 3:15 this evening. Although I am over-ridden with sorrow and pain right now, I know that I made the right decision. When the vet came he looked my friends failing body, watched him walk and try to trot and said "that's enough." The very sweet man that my vet is, prayed with me and my husband and we offered Blue back to his maker, told him thank you and goodbye. After he was passed, I clipped his mane and tail and plan to make reins out of them so he can always run like the wind here on earth as well as up in heaven, then my sweet husband buried him on our property. I bought a plum tree and am getting some blue colored forget-me-not flowers to plant on his grave and look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
There is no replacing my Bluedini, and there is no replacing the friendships I have found here. I love you all so much and thank you even more for how much you love me back. Without the serenity prayer, I would be even more of a wreck today. Without your friendships, I would hurt even more. And without my program, I would be lost.

You brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful, loving way to say "see you later" to Blue. It makes me sad that we have to feel loss. I guess the reminds us of how we should be living our very best moments every day. I love you, God loves you and there ain't a darn thing you can do about it. We are here for you.
