Many of us have lost our moms to death or to this disease. Some of us never had a mom. So today if it's in your power to do so please consider showing another human being some gentleness and tenderness. A little can go a long way and help someone get through the day. And even though I have little to give I'm going to scrape together a little something to give to someone else in need. I'm sure it will come back to me ten fold! For all of you who have torn and mending hearts I send you hugs and warmth today.
hugs and warmth.

Its a good thing to read this today. My grandmother passed away at the end of Feb. after a 3 week battle with lymphoma, we didn't have long to say goodbye. Today is my our first mother's day without her. I never really thought about it being difficult for folks today and fathers day.
Good thoughts and hopes to everyone.

Thanks sooner, Was a little strange this mothers day. My mother passed away 3 weeks ago. And it was a real strange feeling to be alone and my father didnt wish me a Happy Mother's Day. But my friend stayed with me most of the weekend, so that was good. Thank you sooner for posting this .

thank you , we have already had Mother's day in march here in the UK, but it was and always is a difficult day. My mum was killed in a road accident 10 years ago and I miss her every day.

Thanks sooner for bringing this topic to the board. I lost my mom unexpectedly in 1988 (I was still living at home and I am the one who found her) and that took me years to heal. My mom was my best friend even though she earlier was a bit difficult to get close to. My dad passed away in 1980 with prostate cancer, so the years in which we had to take care of him and the time between his death and my mothers, while difficult, were also the best years I actually had with her because we became like roomies or buddies and went on vacations together and enjoyed each others company. And yes I do miss her, she seemed to understand me unlike anyone else. Mothers Day was always our day to go to the nursery and get new flowers to plant in her garden, my mother had quite a green thumb, that was her therapy. For several years Mothers Day and her birthday were hard for me. But now I have nice memories as well as the painful ones. Thanks for having a place to share this. Dana
