Huge thanks for your prayers and thoughts. My daughter got out of the hospital today. Her white count was going down. The surgeon still isn't sure what the problem was. But the IV antibiotics and fluid helped. They did take out her appendix during the surgery. It was in good condition but since they said she doesn't need one anyway, we approved to remove it. Daughter's tummy is really sore from the incisions and the gas they put in her while in surgery. She is a thin person and her little belly looks like a pot belly now and is sort of cute :) She did go to dinner at her inpatient treatment center tonite and an AA meeting. She was concerned about having morphine in her during the hospital stay and was going to process that with her sponsor and AA members. She still has been clean and sober since her inpatient treatment :)
Last night when I visited her at the hospital she apologized for how grumpy she had been to me under the influence of morphine. That was so nice of her to take my feelings into consideration. I looked through her Big Book of AA when she was visiting on the phone too and we talked about some of what was in there later on. That was so kewl! She is back to her friendly nice self again. She said the morphine made her personality like it gets when she uses alcohol or drugs and that is great insight for her to see and figure out on her own.
My dad never called me last night as he said he would. They are on their way driving from Az to ND and with his congestive heart failure/parkinsons and mom's alzheimers, I was a wreck emotionally. Dad always does what he says. He fianally called tonight about 8:30 pm! Boy was I relieved. He said he just collapsed when they got to the motel room last night. I am going to have a heart to heart talk with him about how important it is for him to check in with me now that his and mom's health have worsened. I will do this when it is appropriate. Our relationship is changing now with their health problems and it will be easier having them live 2 hours from me. One day at a time.
My son is making decisions now too that grandpa won't be happy with. I am trying to detatch from this too. I tell my son he is an adult and I think he is doing a great job making adult decisions. (Inside my mind I wish I could make him do what I want,,,but alanon has taught me so much ). My son appreciates me praising him and I can tell it makes him feel like he is a responsible person. Our daughter was fired from her job the day she got ill due to the insurance of the business finding out about her driving poor driving record. She wouldn't be able to work the job now anyway after this surgery. My hubby co-signed he apartment lease etc. and I guess If he has to work overtime that is his problem. Our son needed money today too. grrrrrr I told him and showed him,,,well I guess my hair roots can wait awhile for a dye job etc. etc. LOL When he got home after being here to see his sister, he cancelled his HBO, deferred some student loans etc. etc. He is being very responsible now which is not new but he usually doesn't take fast action like today. :) Our kids are at the age when they tell us how much they appreciate our help. I tell them, just please remember that when I am in need to please help me out too. They say, of course we will mom. I guess we are meant to not have a life savings like others have done. I can learn to live a meager life in my old age knowing that I did the best I could with raising my kids. They are not ones to ask for money and when they do they feel very embarassed. They are good kids. I feel very blessed today. I can't change my hubbys and my relationship or his behavior but I can change mine.

Sounds good cdb glad your daughter is ok and that you are making great progress that is awesome...
I hope when my kids are adults that they will be able to take care of themselfs and me if there is a need for it!!
so true you can't change your hubby but you can change the away you react to him... That is so cool I have learned alot from you cdb...

I am happy to hear that the operation went well, and that your daughter is on the road to recovery. I will remember your daughter in my prayers. Remember to take good care of yourself too. When my son went through his operation, I remember how difficult it had been, that we can sometimes forget ourselves in the process. I hope that today,will be a good and peaceful day, for both of you.

Thank you bubbles and teddybear for your nice replies. I am so glad I chose to cancel 2 appts. yesterday and sleep. It payed off today. My parents are here and I am awake and enjoying the visit. I did have anger at hubby and found myself singing the serenity prayer to myself, (while cleaning the tub he said he would clean 4 days ago). I sang it about 50 times and had a pretty nice tune LOL. Then I got his underwear laundry out of the dryer and threw it on the clean laundry floor! MY passive agressive side. He made a comment when he went to get them out of the dryer. Well, after awhile he did go do the dishes and put them in the dishwasher. I am just ingoring him but will thank him for doing the dishes later. Long story. Singing the serenity prayer did wonders for me LOL. What a way to scrub a tub LOLOL. Well,,,will try and post when I can. your friend in recovery ,,,,cdb :)

Hi CDB,
No, you've never seen me post here before, because this is the first time. It struck me that I have the habit of getting on the chat board sometimes with my agenda and not really hearing what others are going through. You have always been so supportive of everyone else's situation, and I just wanted to let you know how valueable that has been. I know that none of us are led her unless we have a personal stake in recovery from addiction. You too have things you deal with and I send my heart felt wish that all goes well with your family. Keeping you in my prayers.
