When I am just too caught up in all my "baggage" and issues as I have been the last few days, I always notice how freeing up it is to do a gratitude list. Here is my top ten, just for today:
1) my health 2) that I continue to have a job 3) my kitty, who always brightens my day : )
4) that I continue to have a roof over my head 5) food on the table 6) the 12 steps 7) my HP, as I understand HIM/HER/IT 8) this chatroom and message board 9) people who actually listen to me 10) the beauty of nature and living where I do.
Thanks- Dana

When I started my gratitude list, it was pretty dinky, but at least I had a few things down. And I mean just a few. Then after my 6 weeks of face to face alanon meetings, I soon had up to twenty! Didn't think it was even possible to see any more other than "my more than half-empty glass!" Those days were the pits and I am glad they are behind. : )

You are so right. It is sooo easy to find fault in anyone else, or even ourselves. It's too easy to criticize, or complain. Each DAY I make a conscious effort to look for attractive, complimentary, positive qualities in the people that I live with. When I do that, the negatives don't seem soo big.
