to me it means that you have to keep trying. Babe Ruth is considered one of the best baseball players ever, the only reason that he was so good is because he kept trying after he got shut out. So to me it's telling you to keep trying, no matter how many times you get shut down, because you can still achieve great things.

I think somewhere it was written that he didn't see it as 10,000 times of failure, but as 10,000 times of ways he knew how not to make electricity!
