Where I live in UK most Alanon members are female. Finding a male sponsor for myself, also male, is proving difficult. Someone told me to try the message board and here I am. I shall welcome all views. I've been in fellowship 5/6 years.
Thanks

Hello Gault,
It is nice seeing you again. :) There was another man here trying to find a sponsor and if you do a search above where it says Search (between MIP Main Page and User Details), maybe you can bring up that post. I am not sure if he ever got one, but I don't think so.
My daughter was having trouble getting a female sponsor. She finally did. I also just answered Pebbles post and you can read that and get the book name I talked about that has the information for working the steps and traditions. I really don't think getting a sponsor is an urgent thing. I think a person needs to use their HP/God to help work on finding a sponsor too. I look forward to seeing you more here and in chat. cdb :)

Hi Gault, good for you hope u find someone soon, sponsorship was and in still a major part of my recovery, that special person who knows u better than anyone else. (scarry) and loves u anyway. Don't get discouraged , keep trying. Louise.
And as for a HP commig to terms with that is really important , but I can't find a phone number . Sponsorship with skin on it works for me.

I appreciate your comments and shall carry on trying. A couple of years ago I did my Step 4 and then went to Lourdes where I found a priest with whom I could do Step 5. It was very comforting. I still need a more immediate contact though.
I wish you loads of serenity

Hello Gault,
Just an idea, since you live in the UK, maybe you could contact your local Alanon there and they could refer you to someone. Or to a male oriented meeting. I know when my hubby started looking for a sponsor a few phone calls had our phone ringing off the hook. Might be worth a try.
