I love to hear people's personal slogans that work for them Do you have any to share--please do!!
I can relate to the recent shares I heard at a meeting on the personal slogan: JADE—(do not Justify-Argue-Defend or Eplain) I was youngest in family & had all these "adults" ordering me around and telling me what was best yada yada I felt I owed evreyone I met an explaination or justification, defense and very little argument from me.
So I always felt like an adult child literally a child in an adult’s body—it took lots of al-anon and self searching to get to bottom of this and be my own person adult child meetings helped me a lot for a time,
But I found it was easy there to stare and not just look back on this stuff-I could get tooo stuck from focusing on it too closely and hearing it all the time—I learned here and in regular al-anon to look but not stare
Another good personal slogan I heard was: To face trace and erase the issues, I need to accept them (face), see why I still do them (trace) and erase it by giving myself what I need in a healthier way or trying on a new behavior in its place(erase).
Please share some of your own slogans that help and why they help--it will be a great thread of hope for us all.
Peace and love,
Luv

These may not be slogans, but they have helped me alot
"Courage to change"
p.75 "You can't hold a man down without staying down with him." Booker T. Washington
p.316 "Though no one can go back & make a brand new start, anyone can start from now & make a brank new end." As We Understood......
Also in "Paths to recovery" they further explain the al anon slogans in detail. I borrowed from the library, free!
