At meeting this morning related to the topic of making decisions and also the mention of serenity prayer as a guide
it is a tremendous tool 4 making decisions and clarifying what is mine and what belongs to someone else,
it helps me a lot. At times, I don’t feel I have the wisdom on my own to know the difference between what 2 change or not even try sometimes but the prayer tells me HP does after all his name is the fist word.
My HP speaks to me with signs all the time. I need the patience just to b willing to wait 4 the signs--not rush into decisions if there is no sense of urgency. Often that false sense of urgency to solve issues is my will talking anyway.
My decision 2 day is that I need to b very gentle with myself. I need 2 rest more talk with sponsor more, easy does it more 4 one day ata time.
It has become clear that living with active is 2 rough 4 the normal amount of self care that used 2 keep me afloat. I now need to really check in with myself during day and focus on what I need.
Only then can I be the healthy parent I wish 2 b. only then can I be a functioning member of the community. Some of the suggestions for self care when I came into program were foreign but I need to get back to them…
Like--I have to give myself bubble baths & buy me a new little trinket now and then as a reward & make myself a cup of afternoon tea & tell myself it is a cup of love.
All those things and many meetings (I was told 1 meeting helps me just survive thru life, two meetings help me maintain my recovery and three a week helps me grow & thrive thru life)
I would love to hear what others use for self-care and what has been suggested.

Hi,
My favorite thing to do for myselk is ride my bike.
I like to escape the craziness of home and ride through the woods
It is good for me and fun.
I also will make a nice cup of tea and read some alanon books.
Or watch a movie rented from the library.
My HP is sending me signs too.
First a bonus and now a compelling NEED to get to meetings. I am tired of renting a car for the purpose and uncofortable with "brorrowing" my A's. I am going to buy a truck.
then I will have my "freedom machine"
I hope my HP continues to guide me..

D.E.T.A.C.H. - Don't Even Think About Changing Him/Her
Live and Let Live-- We practice the Let Live part with the alcoholic or difficult people, but we forget the "Live" part for "US"..... We need a decent life, too.
Easy....Does it. Sometimes, I need to break this slogan down into 2 parts. Instead of just barging in, or proceeding Full Steam Ahead!.... I need to do Easy.......then do it! [Slow down first]

loved the DETACH acronym Wallsa--thanks I will use it I am sure, like right now as I am thinkng about what another could change vs. focusing on me. I can shift gears and start over however with these tools. thanks for adding that and the easy fist then "do it".
