I am 18 years old. I am an only child. My mom drank when I was a little kid, but I didn't know. Then she got help and quit. When I was about 8 years old she got in a relationship with a drinker and started drinking again. She has not stopped. She is still with the guy she got into a relationship with when I was 8. I love him(I consider him my dad) and my mom. They are my family. The fact that they both drink has affected me since I was 8, but my mom's has affected me worse, since she drinks more than my dad. The good thing is I have about 4 months left of high school and after that I am going away from home for college. That's all I'm going to tell for now. If you have a story similar to mine you can send me a message because it would be nice to hear from someone in a similar situation. Reply if you wanna.

As you know from my other post, I do not have a situation similiar to yours. I just want to tell you that I am thinking of you and hoping you do try alanon  or alateen. Keep posting and updating us. :)  cdb

I am not in your boat, but you are not alone.  I am impressed that you are already so mature as to notice what affects you, and are reaching out for support.  That's what al anon or al ateen  is.  There are meetings online, in person, or chats.  There are also books at the library, no cost!  Each is it's own entity, giving something to you.  Each meet/chat/book is unique.  I go to different meetings & receive different responses.  I go to online meetings, and read too.  I get a little from everything, but the more I put into it, the more I get out of it. 

I found out there are people just like me all over the world thru chat/online/& meetings.  Keep looking for support, come back here or somewhere.
