Recovery: Letting Go
To "let go" does not meant to stop caring, it means
i can't do it for someone else.
To "let go" is not to cut myself off, its the
realization that i can not control another.
To "let go" is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To "let go" is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To "let go" is not to try to change or blame another, it's to make the most of myself.
To "let go" is not to care for but to care about.
To "let go" is not to fix, but be supportive.
To "let go" is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.
To "let go" is not to be in the middle arrainging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect thier own destinies.
To "let go" is not to be protective, its to permit another to face reality.
To "let go" is not todeny, but to accept.
To "let go" is not to nag, scold or argue, but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To "let go" is not to adust everything to my desires but to take each day as it comes, and cherish myself in it.
To "let go" is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.
To "let go" is to fear less and love more.
Sieze the Moment
Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry go round Or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever follow a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down Dont dance so fast time is short The music wont last. Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask "How are you"? Do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? You'd better slow down dont dance so fast time is short the music wont last. Ever told your child, we'll do it tommorow and then in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die To call and say "hi"? You'd better slow down dont dance so fast time is short the music wont last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere you miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day it is like an unopened gift.... Thrown away....
Life is not a race do take it slower Hear the music before the song is over.

Kerry, wonderful post! Slowing down is a good thing which I have been applying to my life and to here or read thoes word just reminds me further that time is something that we need with our loved ones and children. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for the post. It has so much wisdom in it related to alanon. I admire you for taking the time to post this with all that you are going through with your mom. I am continuing to say prayers for you and your family and I hope to keep updated you on the message board. Remember, It is okay that you may not be able to pray now because others are praying for you. Give your kids a hug from me. Your friend, cdb (((((((())))))

Kerry what a wonderful post your little ones are truly blessed with a wonderful hearted parent! Your quotes made me remember the little things like a hug from my Brianna or the words mom I love you from my teens or just my dogs sitting by my side, as small as they are. To be kind to myself which i tend to forget so often, TY love ya cloud

And I loved the last one: I have gotten so busy, but thanks to Al Anon and my HP, I have started to slow down. I took my daughter to the park today, as a matter of fact. :)
