Just a wee poem I wrote the other day dont know how good my poem writing skills are so laugh if you want to - Background to understand poem is that the city I live in has an east coast - white sandy beaches and an hour away a west coast (The Manukau) with black sand beaches pronounced (Man-oo-cow)
I love the Manukau
Since my Auckland days began
She's always been quietly there
In the corner of my eye
From the kitchen in Onehunga
She used to smile at me every morning
And now at Green Bay and Laingholm she lets me rest at her door when ever I like
She's not flashy like the Eastern beaches
Her waters are often murky
And I hear the boys talk about her bar (sand bar in case yr wondering)
She's a little rough
Scattered oyster shells, muddy chocolate sand, and crabby rocks
Put she is unpretencious and happy with her few visitors
The maori seem to know how to enjoy her better than I
We arrive spontaneously today at toddlers request
We have no shoes and I a heavy mind
The Manukau she doesn't care and now I am here neither do I
She welcomes us in her quiet way
She is simple and humble, and so peaceful I want to cry
She hugs us without a word
Then she speaks
Reminding me of the peacefulness available to those who seek it
And I love her
Ava

Wow Ava!... Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful poem!
I can hear the gentle waves and the sounds of the sea even here in my living room.
Thank you for the peaceful vision!
