First of all I would like to say that the prayers for dying people like kerry5's mother are far more important than my request. Please first pray for her and her family. I feel a little funny asking for my prayer for my son but I do believe it helps for others to pray for something as a group too. Plus I wanted to share how I was able to talk to my A daughter about connecting with her HP in this situation since she is struggling with that now.
As you know my 20 year old daughter is in inpatient treatment now and doing extremely well. Our 23 year old son came to the family meeting this past Friday too and has known someone at work who has taught him alot about AA. My daughter said she is trying to make a connection with her higher power.
Well, I just called my daughter and said a good way to connect with your higher power now is to pray for your brother, my son, who graduated from college in December and started his life journey with a great plan! He was offered to take over my uncles water and ice business and has been training with the business since this past summer. He did go back to finish college in the Fall and then in January started full time with a very nice monthly salary! My son has been planning about the future of the business and learning to deal with the employees there and they really respect him and his friendly calm manner. He has been the team captain of baseball, basketball teams including college teams and is great with managing groups of people.
Well, my son just called in tears! What a cruel world we have filled with the almighty dollar! My uncle sold the business out from under him! NO, there was no paper work signed yet for his taking over! I am still in shock. He was told he woldn't get the same amount of money and everyone was told they may get let go tomorrow when the new owner comes in! grrrrr
It is so hard to hear your child in pain like he was. He was able to take the rest of the day off and had to hold all his feelings in all morning until he called me. The other employees felt bad for him and shocked because they knew he was there to take over the business! They were going to have a 2 to 4 year contract in which he would take it over.
Thank God my dad is still alive! My son gave me permission to call him as he was the main agent for my son in this deal. My dad also has quite a bit of money invested in this business. As some of you know, my dad almost died this past month and the doctors never knew what was wrong with him. He sounded strong today and took the news well,,,He has always been a business man himself. My kids are his only grandkids too. All I can say is thank God my dad is still alive to conclude this situation with his brother and his grandson! My dad was going to call and talk to my son after he had time to think through the situation. He was shocked too. My husband can take emergency family leave so that is great because he can drive to where our son is tonite and give him moral support. I may go too.
I just know that prayers work! I just need my son to feel confident and strong again and for his life to seem positive again. I need him to see a new future with good things coming his way! I also need my dad, with his fragile heart condition to not go into another life episode like a month ago. Please pray for him too! I felt like my daughter took things well and I know this will increase her faith by knowing that I asked her to pray,,,,she had her AA friends praying for her sick hamster too! And she perked up today! I think it is the medication from the pet store but who knows! They just prayed for the little critter last nite and she was alot better today and drinking water finally!
I told her the name of my alanon group was Miracle In Progress and that people have seen miracles happen here and I was going to ask for prayers from all of you too. This may seem like a minimal thing but it is a big thing to see prayers being answered like someone's peace of mind or mended heart. I am handling this with the 3 cs. I have my support group here. It is just my son and dad and of course alzheimer mom who dad may not tell,,,well if she finds out it will affect her alzheimers too. :( So please say prayers for those three.

First of all cdb you say this often.. I want to thank you for asking for prayers for me means alot. But you need to understand something here and believe it. Your request for prayers for your family is not minimal no ones hurt is more than the other. Everyone in life has experiences and things hurt in life. What you are going through is just as painful as me. So dont ever think your pain isnt important enough cause it is. Because pain is pain no matter what. I cant pray right now as you know but i will ask hp to just be with you and family i think that will be enough from me. And please do me a favor and dont minimize your pain feel what you feel and let it out always. (((((((((((((cdb))))))))) thank you for being here youve helped me alot since my mom has been in the hospital. Ill never forget it.

I guess he is learning the difficult lesson of life is not fair.
He has the college and the leadership skills that are in his toolkit. He will be able to figure out whatever course his HP now has in store for him...

Your son is in my prayers, however, I must say I hope in the long run that you find that God (HP) has bigger plans for your son than his intended plan to work with his Uncle, and it all works out for the best in the end.

How wonderful that your daughter is making such progress in her treatment plan. I believe that for every door that closes, another will open, and that often times, the new door will lead to a better place. Your son will be fine, he will emerge from this a stronger man who is just as respected and cared for as he always was, if not more so. I admire your perserverence in keeping your family together and strong- you're a wonderful mother and wife! Keep you chin up, and, as they say, this too shall pass and the sun will break on a new day full of life and potential.

You got em! You and your family are in my prayers and my heart. I agree that HP may have bigger, better things in mind for your son. I know he is heartbroken now, and I know how hard it is for a parent to see a child in any kind of pain.
So glad your daughter and father are doing better. Prayer helps sooo much, and no problem is too small in HP's book, or so I believe! All the best to all of you, sometimes we don't understand, but trust in your HP.

Speechless, yes! And my dad had loaned my uncle alot of money so he could buy the business not that many years ago! grrrrr I am wondering how my dad is feeling right now, but he will get his money back now that the business is sold. But back to the 3cs and surrendering and trusting in my HP and the others HP. AFter I called my son back he told me he was handling it better since he talked to his grandpa and he given him some very valuable advice and tips. Thank You God for letting my dad live to help resolve this! I do see alot of growth that will come out of my son. He knew and was so grateful for being so young and being able to purchase a business at only 23! He was so aware of the value of this compared to other people. I can somehow see him now motivated to save money,,,work hard and buy his own business in the future which will make him more appreciative than if this didn't happen. My son asked that we not come up since he is handling it now and my husband pointed out when he came home that our son is a big boy and can handle this. THUS, another one of my shortcomings of wanting to be in control and rescue! Wow, I have learned so much in this program in such a short time. My son knows we are now and always will be here for him no matter what! My daughter knows the value of her family too in that we all need to be there for one another! Something she can live when she is clean and sober. I however need to deal with my feelings for this aunt/uncle because right now I have no intention of EVER talking to them again. It just comes to show that the 12 steps are a process with progress not perfection. cdb

Your son sounds like the apple of your eye. I know how proud you must be of him for all he has acheived and how hurtful it must be to have one of his first exiting opportunities in the working world go belly up - by a family member no less!
Its the lessons along the way that define us and give us character.
Just want to say that your daughter is also so lucky to have such a devoted and supportive mum. Its so nice that your daughter is concerned about her brother as well when she is struggling with her own issues at the moment.
